TEACHING CIVICS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR TAX-EXEMPT STATUS

I’m having real trouble getting houses of worship to accept mentioning the United States Constitution in sermons or hosting workshops regarding American Civics. Urban churches are the biggest resistors to ideas like this as they’re tax-exempt institutions and don’t want to lose their status because of politics. Here’s why I think that they’re wrong.

Churches Can Teach Civics

#1. Teaching Civics Is Not Political

Teaching Civics is a part of our Constitutional Republic, not politics at all. Teaching Civics doesn’t endorse a political party or candidate. If teachers just stick with the facts and inform their members of their rights guaranteed them by the state and federal constitutions.

It’s easy to find a Bible-Based curriculum and posting the outline for transparency and protection from any liability. As I mentioned before, the language used in teaching should be neutral and not turn political. Again, Civics is not political. The political affiliations of our founders are irrelevant because they all worked together to compose our precious documents.

#2. Truths From The Bible and Our Constitution Go Hand-In-Hand

When you look at the Bible and read it side-by-side, you will see the similarities between the two. The opening paragraph of the Declaration Of Independence states the following:

“The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.” (italics added)

It would be a dishonor to keep this knowledge from your members. I can honestly say that the leaders in our big cities are corrupt to the core. Some of their laws are blatantly unconstitutional; no one takes them to task and protests these lawless “laws” because they don’t know this basic information.

It’s a stain on society to see that the urban church has been silent regarding this corruption. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:11- Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

All that needs to be done is to inform members and let them act on the information. Right now the culture wants us to be divided, segregated by color, race, gender, and much more. Any church that adopts this state of mind is wrong and the Truth isn’t in them. This “wokeness” is exposing the true Church from the Laodicean church.

It’s time to teach Civics and inform fellow citizens of the injustices that have plagued our communities for generations. The corrupt need is all to be divided because if we learn the truth and gather in one voice, no matter our race and identity, it’s over for them. And, NO, Civics isn’t being taught correctly in a majority of our public schools.

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to do what I can to teach my readers the truth about the injustice occurring here in our cities. I can’t stand idly by when there are gangbangers are on the street advertising their drug business openly in the streets. It’s time to pursue truth and inform others.
